Halacha
In simple words how it works halachicly: There is a base with LED’S, then there is an iris mechanism with blades that opens and closes with a pin when the hood is turned. The iris mechanism is not connected to the base, but is only sitting on the base. When the hood is turned the pin from the iris mechanism turns along thus closing and opening the blades allowing the leds to illuminate.
Reasons why it’s not a problem to use on Shabbos:
- On Shabbos the led does not get shut, only covered (through blades of iris mechanism). there is a separate switch to be able to close during the week.
- The base doesn’t move when the hood is turned.
- There is a divider between the hood and base that’s not connected to the base it’s just sitting on it, meaning to say the hood is not actually connected to base, nor to the iris mechanism. The 3 parts are not connected, they’re just sitting one on top of the other.
